Southland provides text-first game feedback and account-wide presentation choices for parts of the game script it controls. This guide remains a draft until the supported-client accessibility walkthrough and the website, bot, and forum accessibility checks are complete. It does not claim that GTA, SA-MP, open.mp, Discord, or the forum itself is fully accessible.
Choose account-wide presentation settings
Use /accessibility list to read every current setting and value in chat. Use /accessibility <setting> to read one setting in detail, or add on or off to save it. The /a11y alias opens the same command.
- High contrast changes the reviewed server-message palette and removes low-contrast decorative colour from generated help. Labels and wording do not change.
- Reduced motion suppresses optional talking and paired social gestures and the location-banner fade. It does not hide injury, restraint, object editing, or another authoritative gameplay state.
- Audio cues permits optional server sounds and automatic XM streams. Turning it off retains text for phone calls, texts, doorbells, locks, and other participating cues. It does not mute GTA, another application, or audio started outside the server script.
- Compact dialogs uses eight data rows per page instead of fifteen in participating lists. Detail and actions remain available.
The choices belong to the account and apply to every character after authentication. If settings cannot load, the session uses high contrast, reduced motion, audio off, and compact dialogs, and says that safe defaults apply. A save is complete only when the game says it was saved to the account.
Use a command instead of a visual control or keybind
Required tasks with a textdraw or key shortcut have a named command path to the same operation:
- use
/skinchoice previous,/skinchoice next, and/skinchoice confirmduring the character skin chooser; - use
/acceptor/declinefor a pending player offer instead of the Y or N shortcut; - use
/payphone <number>and/hangupinstead of the clickable payphone controls; and - use
/blinkersor/v blinkerswithleft,right,both, oroffinstead of indicator shortcuts.
Read-only overlays such as the location, vehicle, and staff-information HUDs use word or number labels. Use /location, /hud, or the owning status command when you need the information in chat or need to hide an optional HUD. Object placement remains a visual editor; use its explicit cancel and recovery instructions rather than assuming it has a full text replacement.
Use /help <command> for current syntax. A visual button, colour, sound, animation, or map marker is not proof that a change completed; wait for the plain-language result and inspect the owning state before retrying.
Adjust the game client
Southland cannot change the GTA chat font, native HUD, radar, dialog scale, screen-reader support, controller mapping, or operating-system display settings. Use only settings supplied by your supported client and operating system:
- Choose a resolution and window mode that keep the chat and dialogs readable on your display.
- Adjust the client’s chat font size and page size if those controls are available in your supported build.
- Keep enough chat history visible to read the complete result before acting again.
- Test changed settings in an ordinary, non-destructive interaction before relying on them in a scene.
Do not install an unapproved client mod, injected overlay, automation tool, or replacement executable as an accessibility workaround. Ask privately before using software that changes the client or its input.
Limit direct contact
Use /privacy list to review your private direct-contact blocks. /privacy block <player> blocks ordinary OOC PMs and owned-cell-phone calls and texts from that account without revealing alternate characters. A transferable burner is blocked by its exact number through /privacy blocknumber <phone_number>. Remove an entry only with the fresh # reference from your own list.
Blocked contact returns one generic unavailable result. It does not identify who created a block or confirm an alternate-character link. A block does not remove either player’s responsibility to continue or safely resolve an unavoidable active scene. On-duty official Admin contact is labelled, audited, and cannot be blocked; use /report if that route is misused.
Ask for help or report a barrier
Use /helpme when you need help completing a task with an available alternative. Use /bug for a reproducible accessibility defect in a command, dialog, textdraw, website route, bot workflow, or other Southland-controlled surface. Use the private conduct route when someone exploits a disability, communication need, or block.
For an accessibility bug, include:
- supported client name and version;
- resolution, window mode, and relevant client chat setting;
- relevant
/accessibilityvalues; - the exact command, dialog, page, or workflow;
- the text you saw and the task you expected to complete; and
- whether a command or other safe alternative worked.
Describe the barrier and outcome without naming or guessing a diagnosis. Do not post client logs, account details, login codes, or private evidence publicly. If the client or platform itself is the limitation, support should state that boundary and identify the nearest safe Southland alternative rather than promise a server-side fix.
Recover safely
- If a setting is still loading or saving, wait for its final result before retrying.
- If a numbered privacy reference is stale, reopen
/privacy listand use the new reference. - If optional audio or motion continues after a saved change, preserve the exact surface and report it once; do not repeat a costly action to test it.
- If a required task has no usable command or dialog path, stop before an irreversible step and use
/helpmeor the private support route. - If login or character selection prevents normal commands, use the private community support route without sharing credentials or authentication codes.
See Commands, prompts, and getting help for prompt recovery and Support and reporting for choosing the correct private route.
