GPS and personal waypoints provide destination markers rather than road-by-road navigation. This guide remains a draft while marker conflicts, sharing, character-switch cleanup, and HUD transitions await complete real-client verification.
Browse a destination
- Use
/gpsto open the categorized public directory. - Review current entries and their straight-line distance.
- Select a destination to place its ground checkpoint and radar marker.
- Travel using the marker and the world around you; GPS does not provide turns or road routing.
Personal waypoints can also appear in the directory. A new GPS or waypoint destination replaces navigation already owned by this system. It refuses to overwrite a checkpoint owned by another activity.
Use the off action under /gps to clear GPS-owned navigation. Use /clearcp only as broader recovery because it can clear the active gameplay checkpoint or another supported route.
Save a personal waypoint
Use /waypoint at the outdoor overworld position you want to remember. Give it a clear character-appropriate name, then use /waypoints to review, mark, rename, or delete saved entries.
Waypoints belong to the current character and persist across reconnects. Saving can be refused in an interior or instance, at an unsuitable world position, for an invalid or duplicate name, or when the current list has no room. Follow the visible refusal rather than copying limits from a guide.
Share a destination
- Stand near the intended recipient.
- Use
/sharewaypointwith one of your current saved entries. - The recipient accepts with the displayed Y key or declines with N.
- Keep both players available until the final result.
Acceptance marks the destination for the recipient but does not add a durable copy to their saved waypoints. The sender must still own the waypoint when the offer resolves, and acceptance is refused while the recipient already has another marker active; both players are told, so the recipient clears theirs and the sender offers again.
Use the location HUD
The location HUD briefly shows zone changes while outdoors in the overworld. Drivers also receive a vehicle-name and compass presentation. It hides in interiors and instances and does not claim street-address precision.
With the Reduced motion accessibility setting enabled, the zone name appears at once, holds for the same time, and disappears without a fade. Use /hud to toggle the preference for the current character. The preference persists, while current GPS and received shared markers remain session navigation rather than saved destinations.
Recover from navigation problems
- A marker conflicts with another activity: complete or deliberately clear that activity before selecting a GPS destination.
- An entry changed while a menu was open: reopen
/gpsor/waypoints. - Saving is refused: return to a suitable outdoor overworld position and correct the reported name or list condition.
- Sharing expires or either player reconnects: create a fresh offer; sharing does not create a saved copy.
- Character switching leaves presentation behind: clear the route and reconnect if needed; complete detach cleanup remains under verification.
- HUD enabling is not immediate: allow the next location update before treating it as failed.
Public catalogue contents, coordinates, internal checkpoint ownership values, and hidden limits are intentionally omitted.
