The Mobile Data Computer provides limited durable-record lookups to eligible organization members. This public role guide remains a draft while the structured-charge request and the record panel itself await verification on a supported client.

It covers only legitimate player-visible basics. Private record internals, evidence and anonymous-tip pipelines, access monitoring, hidden identifiers, and operational investigation tactics are intentionally omitted.

Meet the access requirements

MDC access is capability-based rather than attached to a public faction or rank number. The character must have an active eligible faction membership, be on faction duty, and hold the capability required for the requested action.

Use /mdc to open or close the person-and-vehicle panel. The panel itself is not proof of authorization; each selected action rechecks faction, duty, capability, character, connection, and health state. The current flow does not require a terminal item, a vehicle, or a particular building.

Losing duty, membership, consciousness, or the lookup capability closes an open panel and clears its person and vehicle references. Reopen it only after access is restored.

Duty is temporary and clears when the character disconnects. Organization membership and rank persist. After reconnecting, return to duty before performing a fresh lookup.

Search for a person

  1. Confirm the character is on duty and authorized for record lookup.
  2. Open the person lookup and enter the first 3-24 printable characters of a character name. Spaces and underscores are treated consistently.
  3. If several online or offline durable records match, choose from the bounded candidate list. One match opens directly. When matches were left off the list, the search says so and asks for a longer name; enter more of the name rather than picking the closest visible row.
  4. Use the summary, active-charges, and record-history views for the selected person.
  5. Use the displayed contextual reference only for a permitted follow-up action.

The summary can show the character name, current phone number, active licence states, current property addresses, owned current vehicle plates, active-charge count, and arrest/corrections counts. Active charges and the newest record events have separate bounded views. These are defined law records, not a complete life, communications, or investigation history.

A new person search replaces the previous person result context. Displayed references are temporary and clear when their context expires, the character changes, or the connection lifecycle resets. Rerun the search rather than guessing a reference.

Search for a plate

Use the plate lookup with the exact visible 2-10 character plate. A matching current record identifies the catalogue model and model number, normalized plate, character or organization owner, current or pending registration, latest insurance-policy state, and current impound state and release time when held. A no-match result is not proof that a vehicle never existed or that every external record has been searched.

Do not use partial guesses or another player’s old lookup reference. Destroyed or otherwise unavailable records may not appear in the current result.

Add or review a charge

The current structured charge path begins from a fresh person search:

  1. Search for the intended person again.
  2. Confirm the correct displayed row.
  3. Use the MDC charge action with a currently supported code. If a code is refused, use the current choices shown by the response.
  4. Include an appropriate optional printable incident note of no more than 160 characters when needed.
  5. Wait for the final result before attempting another record. The action refuses self-charging and rapid replay, and reports success only after the record commits.

A durable charge record does not itself deduct money, issue a fine, or begin custody. Fine handling, arrest, and corrections are separate workflows.

/charges displays an online subject’s active charge records through a separate contextual list. /uncharge uses a reference from that current charge list, not a reference remembered from an MDC person search.

Recover from stale or unclear records

  • Access is refused: verify current membership, duty, and authorized rank capability; do not try unrelated commands to bypass the decision.
  • A known person or plate does not appear: verify the visible spelling and run one fresh lookup.
  • A reference is refused: reopen the exact owning list; references are scoped and temporary.
  • A charge result is unclear: do not submit it repeatedly. Refresh the subject’s active charge list and preserve the exact output.
  • Reconnect or restart occurred: return to duty and perform a new search before using any reference.
