Emergency dispatch turns a completed 911 operator intake into a persistent responder call. This guide remains a draft while the scene checkpoint and its radar marker remain unverified on a real client, the launch payphone placement is still being checked in game, and the caller-identity contract is still to be reconciled.
Place an eligible emergency call
Use a powered cellie or active burner to call 911. An active public payphone can use its emergency keypad or /payphone; prison booths cannot reach the service.
Calling is unavailable while incapacitated, restrained, already on another call, or using an unavailable handset. Another eligible character must call for an incapacitated patient.
Complete operator intake
Wait for the automated operator and answer through ordinary local speech:
- whether police, EMS, fire, or all three are needed (
bothis re-asked); - the emergency location; and
- a concise description.
Nearby players hear the caller’s side as phone speech. The accepted final description immediately files the report, after which the operator acknowledges it. Hanging up, disconnecting, remaining silent, or repeatedly giving an unusable service answer ends intake without filing.
Understand caller identity and updates
Cellie calls currently present the calling character’s name and the phone number to authorized responders; the subscriber-identity contract remains to be reconciled. Burner and payphone calls present their number without a subscriber name. Nearby witnesses can still hear and physically observe the caller.
The call remains available until resolved or otherwise closed. Callers do not currently receive responder-attachment or closure updates, and an open or recent report can block another immediate filing.
Responder workflow
Eligible on-duty police, EMS, or fire-service members use /dispatch to list and view current calls. References are contextual; reopen the board before acting on a changed entry.
Attaching records the response and attempts to place a scene checkpoint. Another route can own that checkpoint, so the displayed location remains authoritative when no marker is available. Use detach when leaving a response. An attached eligible responder can clear an ordinary caller report with the appropriate current outcome; mechanically owned incidents close through their owning system instead.
/togdispatch controls new-call broadcasts, not access to the board.
Recover from failure
- Service is unavailable: verify phone power and state, then place a fresh call later.
- Intake ends before confirmation: no report was filed; start again when eligible.
- Reference is stale: reopen
/dispatchand use a current row. - Marker cannot be placed: follow the displayed scene location rather than repeatedly attaching.
- Attachment or clearance contradicts the board: stop retrying and preserve the call state for support.
- Reconnect or duty changes: reopen the board; attachment cleanup and restart behavior remain under verification.
Exact cooldowns, transcript limits, responder capabilities, prioritization, and internal location traces are intentionally omitted.
