Documents are unique persistent item originals with immutable finished text, permanent signatures, and optional registration. This guide remains a draft until writing, two-player signing, notarization, custody movement, and restart persistence complete real-client verification.
Acquire paper and start a draft
Buy paper from an eligible open store’s current catalogue. Carry it and make room for a new document, then use /write with the intended title.
Starting consumes one paper sheet and creates a persistent draft. Use the add action under /write for plain-text lines, the read action to preview it, and finish only when the title and text are ready to become permanent.
The scrap action destroys the draft and does not return the paper.
Finish and read
Finishing makes the title and body permanent. Use /read for a document currently in your custody.
The readout includes its draft or finished state, text, signatures, and any registration stamp. Only the draft author can continue writing, and only while holding the original.
Show a document
Use /showdoc to display a held document directly to one nearby character. Showing is immediate and does not use an accept/decline prompt. It does not transfer custody or create a signature.
Request or add a signature
Use /sign with the held finished document for self-signing confirmation. A signer must remove any mask because the permanent signature records authoritative identity. To request another character’s signature, remain nearby and target them through the same command family.
The requested signer reads the complete document before accepting or declining. The holder must retain the same final document while the request remains pending. A completed signature and its recorded time are permanent; signing does not transfer the item.
Notarize at City Hall
Take a held, finished, signed document to the City Hall notary counter and use /notarize. The current cash fee applies only to successful registration.
Registration is one-way. It records the document but does not prove its claims, make roleplay terms automatically enforceable, or replace player consent.
Transfer and recover the original
Use offer-confirmed /give for a direct handover, or /drop and /pickup for a world handoff. Text, signatures, and registration state remain unchanged across custody, reconnects, and restarts.
- A draft operation is unclear: reopen the draft readout before adding or finishing again.
- A signing request expires or players separate: create a fresh request while the holder still has the same final document.
- Showing was mistaken for an offer: no acceptance is required and no signature was added; check the document itself.
- Notarization is refused: confirm the counter, finished state, signature, held custody, and carried cash.
- Movement is unclear: check both inventories and the labelled drop location before repeating it.
Do not include private terms another player has not voluntarily read, and do not use a registration stamp as an OOC guarantee of truth.
