Property auctions are system-run listings for unowned properties. Bids are durable commitments backed by the bidder’s bank at settlement rather than money held in escrow when the bid is placed. The result identifies whether settlement failed because the winner was offline, lacked funds, reached a capacity limit, or the property was no longer eligible for sale.

Understand an auction listing

Use /auctions to review current property listings, their displayed minimum bid, and the temporary reference assigned to each one.

An active auction blocks ordinary purchase at the property’s door even if its normal door label still appears to advertise a sale. The auction list is the authoritative bidding surface until the listing concludes or is cancelled.

A row can remain visible briefly while its result is being processed. If bidding says the auction has ended, wait for the result and refresh the list rather than retrying the old reference.

Check whether you can bid

Before bidding:

  • make sure the current character has room to acquire another property and its owner access;
  • use /balance to confirm the bank can cover the intended amount;
  • be prepared to keep the full amount in the bank until settlement; and
  • remain online and eligible when the auction result is processed.

Current ownership and access limits are enforced at settlement and are not copied into this guide.

Place a bid

  1. Open a fresh /auctions list.
  2. Review the intended property and displayed minimum.
  3. Use its current temporary reference with /bid and the intended amount.
  4. Wait for the explicit success or refusal.
  5. Refresh /auctions if the listing changed or another bidder acted first.

Submitting the bid is the commitment; there is no separate Y/N confirmation prompt. A successful response records a new leading bid but does not immediately deduct or reserve bank funds.

The current leader cannot use another bid merely to raise their own leading amount. A stale concurrent bid can also be refused when another bidder changed the listing first.

Do not spend the committed bank funds or consume the required property capacity while leading. The auction does not reserve either one for you, and winning without the funds suspends the character from bidding.

Understand being outbid

Another eligible player can replace the leading bid by meeting the current requirement. An online previous leader receives a notice, but there is no retained offline notification.

Because bid money was not deducted, an outbid player has no auction escrow to reclaim. Reopen /auctions to see the current state rather than relying on an old announcement.

Players cannot withdraw or cancel their own submitted leading bid. A system listing may be cancelled, in which case no bid refund is needed because no bid money was held.

Understand settlement

When the auction concludes, the current leading bidder must still be:

  • online;
  • funded from their bank;
  • eligible to own another property; and
  • able to receive the property’s owner access through the checked property-acquisition path.

On success, the bank is charged and property ownership and its owner key are granted together. Check /balance, /keys, and the property door after the result.

If there is no bid, or the leading bidder is offline, underfunded, or otherwise ineligible, the property is not sold through that result. The system does not automatically fall back to a previous bidder.

Winning an auction and then failing the bank-funds check has a lasting consequence: that character is refused from /bid for seven real days, counted from the failed result. The refusal states the remaining time. The suspension is per character, survives reconnects and server restarts, and does not affect /auctions, ordinary door purchases, or selling.

Recover from stale or unclear results

  • A reference is refused: reopen /auctions and use a current temporary reference.
  • The row is visible but bidding says it ended: wait for result processing and refresh; do not keep retrying.
  • The amount is refused: review the current displayed minimum and bank balance.
  • You were outbid while offline: inspect the current list; no offline notice is retained.
  • You are still leading: preserve the full bank amount, ownership room, and online eligibility until settlement.
  • The winner was offline: the listing ended without a sale; the system does not fall back to an earlier bidder.
  • The winner lacked bank funds: compare /balance with the retained winning amount; expect the seven-day bidding suspension described above.
  • Bidding is suspended: the refusal names the remaining time; wait it out, and keep future winning amounts in the bank until settlement.
  • Bidding says auction state is unavailable: the suspension check could not be read; wait briefly and try again.
  • The winner was at the property limit: free ownership capacity before bidding in another auction.
  • The winner had no access-key capacity: use /keys and resolve unneeded access before bidding again.
  • The property no longer met sale requirements: confirm the current property-door state; no winner payment was taken for that result.
  • The result is unclear: compare /balance, /keys, and the current property door before taking another action.
  • A charge appears without ownership: reconnect and recheck the authoritative state once before using the established support route with the property name, bid amount, and approximate result time.

Player-created auctions, owned-property listings, vehicle or business auctions, escrowed bids, fallback winners, and player-facing concluded-auction history are not part of the established auction core.
