Weapons and ammunition are persistent inventory entities with custody history. This guide remains a draft while packaged loading presentation and the remaining failure paths await verification.
Understand weapon state
An individual weapon is either:
- packaged, making it an ordinary inventory item that can be given, dropped, picked up, or stored; or
- carried, placing it in the character’s active weapon state.
Use the list action under /weapon and /inventory to confirm the current state. Contextual item references can change after any movement, so reopen the list before another action.
Carry or package a weapon
Use the unpack action under /weapon for the intended packaged item. If its active weapon slot is already occupied, package the conflicting carried weapon first.
Use the pack action before giving, dropping, or storing a carried weapon. Wait for the final result and recheck the weapon list rather than treating the submitted command as proof that custody changed.
Load or unload ammunition
Loading and unloading work while the weapon is either packaged or carried. A packaged weapon remains inert; a carried weapon refreshes its active ammunition only after the durable change succeeds.
- Choose the intended held weapon and confirm whether it is packaged or carried.
- Review current weapon and ammunition items.
- Use the load action with a compatible ammunition item and the intended amount.
- Use the unload action when rounds should return to inventory custody.
- Recheck both
/weaponand/inventoryafter success.
Loading consumes ammunition items into the weapon. Unloading recreates ammunition in carried inventory and therefore needs room. Organization-issued ammunition can load only into an active weapon owned by the same organization while its assigned holder remains on duty. Unloaded rounds remain organization property and accountable equipment. This draft does not reproduce calibre tables, capacities, or catalogue limits.
Know what firing leaves behind
Firing a firearm leaves spent casings on the ground where the shooting started. They are invisible until somebody searches for it, they raise no alert, and they can be recovered as evidence or cleared away by anyone willing to work the scene. See Spent casings and shot scenes.
Give, drop, or pick up
Package a weapon before using generic item custody commands. /give creates an offer and does not transfer until the recipient accepts while the checked conditions remain valid.
Dropping a packaged weapon or ammunition places a persistent world item. It is not private storage and can be picked up by another eligible character who reaches it. Ammunition stacks can use supported partial quantities.
If a result is unclear, compare /weapon, /inventory, and the world drop before repeating it.
Use vehicle storage
For a supported persistent vehicle:
- Be on foot at the rear.
- Hold vehicle access and unlock it.
- Open the physical trunk.
- Open the weapon storage or unified
/storageview. - Store only packaged weapons or ammunition.
- Reopen the view after every movement.
- Close and secure the vehicle afterward.
Vehicle capacity is model-dependent and shared with other item types. This draft does not publish slot values. /weapon storage vehicle [page] shows only weapon and ammunition rows with page-local references; use the displayed # reference with /weapon take vehicle.
Use property storage
Inside a property where the current character holds access, open the property weapon-storage view and move packaged weapons or ammunition between carried and property custody.
Shared property access is meaningful access to stored belongings, so grant keys deliberately. /weapon storage property [page] shows only weapon and ammunition rows with page-local references; use the displayed # reference with /weapon take property and reopen the view if it becomes stale.
Recover from common failures
- Unpack fails: confirm the item is packaged and its active slot is free.
- Pack fails: confirm that exact weapon is currently carried.
- Load or unload fails: refresh references and check custody, compatibility, rounds, weapon room, and inventory room. For organization equipment, also confirm both items have the same organization owner and the weapon is still assigned and authorized for duty use.
- Give or drop fails: package the weapon and reopen inventory before retrying.
- Vehicle storage is unavailable: stand at the rear, unlock and open the supported trunk, and verify access.
- Property storage is unavailable: confirm the current interior and property key.
- A storage selection is unclear: stop. Use the unified vehicle view or an unambiguous label where possible, and do not guess another reference.
- After incapacitation or death: review
/weapon; the lifecycle is intended to repackage active weapons safely.
Acquisition catalogues, exact concealment policy, evidence procedure, and legal licensing decisions remain outside this custody guide.
