Taxi service connects any passenger with an on-duty player driver. A driver who accepts a waiting request captures the caller’s position as the fixed pickup marker; the driver uses a temporary job cab and settles the metered ride from the passenger’s carried cash.
Request a taxi
- Use
/calltaxionce when you need a ride. - While waiting, move to and remain at the place where you want to be collected.
- When a driver accepts, your position at that moment becomes the fixed pickup marker; moving afterward does not move it.
- Wait for that assigned cab and agree on the destination and metered ride in roleplay.
- Board the supplied cab when it arrives.
One caller can have one active request. On-duty drivers are notified and one can claim it. If nobody accepts, the request eventually expires.
Taxi requests use their own job dispatch rather than placing a phone call. A powered handset is not a prerequisite for /calltaxi.
Cancel or replace a request
Use /canceltaxi while the request is still active if plans change. This clears the waiting request or the assigned driver’s pickup route. If an assigned driver goes off duty, the request is cancelled rather than returned to the queue, so call again if the ride is still needed. A short wait applies between hails, so an immediate second call answers with the remaining time rather than creating a request.
A caller disconnect also cancels the request. After reconnecting, create a fresh request from the intended pickup location.
Take the taxi-driver job
- Use
/jobsto review employment and locate the Taxi Driver signup. - Travel to the Unity Station taxi depot and use
/getjobat its signup point. - Return to the exterior depot when ready to work.
- Use
/taxito go on duty. - Wait for the temporary cab to spawn and seat you as its driver.
The metered job works in the supplied cab. An owned taxi does not replace it for this workflow, and the duty cab does not become a permanent owned vehicle.
Collect a requested passenger
When you are free to take a new passenger, use /acceptfare to claim the nearest waiting request. Acceptance captures the caller’s current position; follow the resulting fixed pickup marker.
Reaching the pickup closes the hail stage. Collect the intended passenger and agree on the trip before starting the meter. A driver can also arrange a walk-up passenger without a prior dispatch request.
Do not claim another request while already serving a passenger. Finish the current ride cleanly first.
Start and settle a fare
- Keep the driver in the driver’s seat of the supplied cab.
- Have only the intended paying passenger seated in that cab when starting the fare; the meter uses the first eligible passenger it finds rather than a named target.
- Use
/startfareonce. - Drive the agreed journey; both players receive periodic fare updates as distance accumulates.
- At the destination, use
/endfareand wait for the settlement result. - Both players can use
/balanceto verify carried cash afterward.
The full future fare is not reserved when the meter starts. Settlement transfers the passenger’s available carried cash to the driver, so the result can be partial or unpaid if the passenger no longer carries enough. Discuss the metered payment before departure and do not assume bank funds will cover it.
A running fare also ends if the passenger leaves the cab, the driver leaves the driver’s seat, duty ends, or a participant disconnects. End it explicitly at the destination whenever possible. A driver disconnect can prevent collection rather than guaranteeing later settlement.
End taxi duty
Use /endtaxi when finished. Any running fare is resolved through the normal settlement path, the current pickup assignment is cancelled, and the temporary cab is removed.
Leaving the Taxi Driver job also cleans up duty state. Employment itself persists across reconnect, but the cab, duty status, request, pickup assignment, and fare do not.
Recover from common problems
- A caller receives no ride: wait for the active request to expire or cancel it, then create a fresh hail from the intended pickup point.
- The driver cannot find the caller: return to the position captured when the driver accepted; the marker does not move afterward.
- A claimed request disappears: caller cancellation, disconnect, or driver duty ending can close it. The passenger must hail again if service is still wanted.
- The meter will not start: confirm the driver is on duty in the supplied cab and the intended passenger is seated there.
- The passenger exits early: the running fare settles at that point; agree on a new ride before starting another meter.
- Settlement is short: only available carried cash transfers. Recheck both balances and resolve any roleplay dispute without repeatedly starting fares.
- Someone disconnects: request and fare state do not resume after reconnect. Start a fresh request or duty flow.
- The cab becomes unusable: end duty, return to the depot, and start a new shift.
