A business combines a market-owned premises with its own organization, rank ladder, employees, public open state, cover fee, and till. This guide remains a draft until the launch catalogue, business-operation, and multi-client directory walkthroughs are completed. Customer checkout belongs to the separate shopping guide.

Understand ownership and employment

Buying a business makes the current character its founder and top-ranked organization member. Employees join that business organization and inherit permissions from their business rank.

Business employment is stored separately from faction membership, casual jobs, and ordinary property keys. The current business invitation path nevertheless refuses a target who is already in a faction, so do not promise simultaneous membership through that invite flow. Because several organization commands choose the business at the character’s current premises, verify the intended business with /bizinfo before changing employees, ranks, or funds.

Check a business before buying

Use /businesses and its For sale view to browse current market stock from anywhere. Filter by broad location, registered type, or maximum price, then mark one current route. The directory may lead directly to the business, to a containing building for a nested business, or to an exterior-only interaction anchor.

  1. Stand at the exact premises and read the current exterior label.
  2. Confirm that it is for sale and review the displayed amount.
  3. Use /balance to check carried cash.
  4. Prepare cash through ordinary banking if needed, then return to the premises.
  5. Use /bizinfo to confirm the intended business when nearby premises could overlap.

Business purchase uses carried cash, not bank funds. Current prices and ownership limits come from the live listing and refusal messages rather than this guide.

Buy the business

  1. Stand at the for-sale premises as the intended owner.
  2. Use /buybiz once.
  3. Wait for the final success or refusal; there is no separate confirmation dialog.
  4. After success, check the exterior label and /bizinfo.
  5. Use /members at the premises to confirm the founder’s organization membership.
  6. Recheck carried cash through /balance.

A completed purchase records the owner, creates the business organization membership at its owner rank, and leaves the business closed until an authorized member opens it. If the result is unclear, do not immediately submit another purchase.

Review employees, ranks, and permissions

At the business premises:

  • /members shows the currently online business members;
  • /ranks shows its rank ladder and assigned capability identifiers;
  • /rank assigns an eligible online subordinate to an existing lower rank; and
  • /orank exposes the currently registered rank-management actions available to the acting character.

Permissions determine who may open or close the business, change its fee, manage members or ranks, and withdraw from the till. Do not assume an employee can perform an action merely because the command appears in help.

Some business capabilities are fixed by the seeded business roles and are not editable through ordinary civilian rank management. Payroll and extension-specific permissions are intentionally omitted from this draft.

Invite or remove an employee

  1. Meet the intended employee near the business.
  2. Stand where /bizinfo confirms the intended premises.
  3. Use /invite and have the recipient review the displayed offer.
  4. Keep both players close until the final result.
  5. Confirm online membership through /members, then assign an appropriate lower rank if needed.

Use /uninvite to remove an eligible online lower-ranked employee. Peers and higher-ranked members cannot be removed through that subordinate-management flow. Ordinary employees can use /leave while in the business context; the founder must resolve ownership through the market sale flow instead.

Current cross-organization eligibility checks can refuse an otherwise expected invitation. Follow the refusal and do not treat repeated invites as completed employment.

Open or close to the public

An authorized member uses /openbiz or /closebiz at the premises. The business open state controls whether ordinary customers are admitted by the business and whether its public service should be available.

Use the exterior label and /bizinfo to confirm the result. The entrance can also have an independent world-door lock state; if that separately blocks access, changing the business open state is not a key workaround.

Members are intended to use organization membership for business access rather than generic shared entrance keys. Do not distribute door keys as a substitute for hiring an employee.

Set a cover fee

An authorized rank can use /bizfee at the premises to change the current public entry fee. Review the current value through /bizinfo and communicate it clearly before opening.

When an eligible non-member enters, the cover fee is charged immediately from carried cash into the business till as part of entry. There is no separate visitor confirmation. Members are not charged the public cover fee.

Current fee limits and service-specific behavior are deliberately left to the command feedback. A cover fee is separate from a later store or venue purchase.

Review and manage the till

/bizinfo shows the visible business financial state, while /obank at the premises accesses its organization account.

  • Deposits move funds from the acting member’s personal bank into the business till.
  • Withdrawals move till funds into the acting member’s bank and require the appropriate business rank authority.
  • Cover income enters the till rather than becoming the owner’s carried cash automatically.

After an unclear transfer, compare /obank, /bizinfo, and the personal bank balance before repeating it. Customer product sales, managed stock, payroll, resupply, and venue settlement remain owned by their separate systems.

Prepare and complete a market sale

Selling returns the business to the market; it does not transfer ownership to a selected player.

Before attempting it:

  • verify the intended premises through /bizinfo;
  • withdraw the till until the business account is empty;
  • resolve any current ownership-period or lifecycle refusal;
  • finish relevant employee and customer scenes; and
  • understand that every business membership will end on success.

Then stand at the business and use /sellbiz only when ready. There is no separate confirmation dialog, so do not use the command merely to test the current payout.

A completed sale pays the game-calculated sell-back amount into the former owner’s bank, removes every business membership, closes the premises, clears the cover fee and both directory publications, and returns the label to a for-sale state. The payout need not equal the original purchase price.

Recover from a refusal or unclear result

  • The wrong premises resolve: move closer and rerun /bizinfo before any money or membership action.
  • Purchase is refused: recheck the for-sale label, carried cash, current ownership eligibility, and whether another lifecycle operation is resolving.
  • An employee command affects the faction instead: stop, return to the business premises, and confirm /bizinfo before retrying.
  • An invitation is refused: keep both players close and follow the current organization-eligibility response; do not spam duplicate offers.
  • Public entry fails while open: check the separate entrance lock and preserve the exact message rather than attempting unrelated key commands.
  • A till transfer is unclear: compare business and personal bank balances before another transfer.
  • Sale is refused: empty the till and correct the specific current hold or integrity condition reported. An open restock order, an unfinished shop or venue sale, and pawnshop-held items each keep the business off the market until they resolve.
  • Purchase or sale is unclear: check the exterior label, /bizinfo, /members, carried cash, and bank balances before another irreversible command.
