Insurance covers a narrow permanent vehicle loss, while civilian history reports summarize selected durable registration and custody events. This guide remains a draft while the automatic claim path and the real-client purchase and report walkthrough await verification.
Buy vehicle insurance
Visit the marked Insurance Office and use the buy action under /insurance. Only the registered character owner can insure a vehicle; holding a key or driving it is not ownership.
Eligible owned vehicles without active cover appear in the selector and need not be physically present. Review the quote’s insured value, recurring bank premium, deductible, and start conditions before confirming. The first premium is bank-funded.
Use /insurance anywhere to review recent policies, payment state, and recent claims.
Cancel or lose cover
Use a fresh policy reference from /insurance with its cancel action. Cancellation is confirmed, immediate, and has no refund.
A lapsed policy does not restart automatically. Selling the vehicle ends the seller’s cover without refund. Scrapping or permanently removing it is also intended to, but removal handling remains under verification, so review current policy state afterward.
Understand covered loss and claims
Successful chop-shop removal is the only potentially eligible permanent loss type. A claim still depends on the policy’s displayed waiting, ownership/account, cadence, and value conditions. Claims are intended to be created automatically; there is no manual claim command.
An accepted payout enters the registered owner’s bank and ends the policy. The automatic claim lifecycle remains under verification, so automatic production cannot yet be promised. /insurance shows whether a recent claim was paid, denied, or unresolved.
Ordinary destruction is not a covered total loss; the vehicle remains owned and follows normal /v recovery. Impound custody is not a covered loss.
Purchase a history report
Bring a spawned persistent vehicle to the Unity dealership and use /vreport. The vehicle must be live and nearby; parking it through /v park despawns it and therefore does not satisfy the current resolver.
Ownership and a key are not required. Review the cash confirmation before purchase. The report opens immediately as a dialog, is not an inventory item, and cannot later be reopened.
The civilian report can summarize model, current plate, registration, mileage, the current owner as a character or organization name, prior-transfer dates without prior names, selected impound/write-off history, and previous report counts. It provides information only and grants no title, key, possession, release, or insurance rights.
Understand ownership boundaries
This insurance and player-sale flow applies only to character-owned vehicles. A sale changes the owner but not the plate, revokes old keys, records a transfer, and ends the seller’s policy. Organization fleet vehicles cannot be insured at all. The buyer needs separate cover.
A completed chop loss is permanent and cannot be recovered through /v. An impounded vehicle remains owned and uses the separate /unimpound flow.
Recover from unclear results
- Insurance purchase fails: check ownership, active policy state, office context, and bank balance before retrying.
- Policy purchase is unclear: compare the bank balance and policy list before retrying.
- A claim is absent or unresolved: do not manually recreate one; preserve the vehicle, policy, loss, and result.
- No history target resolves: keep the spawned persistent vehicle beside the dealership point; current empty-target wording can misleadingly mention ownership.
- Report payment is unclear: compare cash and visible dialog before another purchase; reports cannot be reopened.
Exact premiums, deductibles, waiting periods, report prices, claim intervals, and evidence internals are intentionally omitted.
